Necessary analyses are made in the day you check in. The surgery can also be performed in the day you check in. An anaesthetist will consult you before the surgery and answer all your questions about the surgery and anaesthesia during it. You will receive sedatives before the surgery that will help you to relax. The cuts during the surgery will be made inside your mouth to avoid the formation of scars on the face. This surgery is based on sawing jaws which will allow to put them in the correct positions and then fix with small titanium plates and screws. These plates and screws stay in the jaws after the face has healed, but they can be removed if the patient or the doctors insist on it. Sometimes it is necessary to connect the lower jaw with the upper jaw using ligatures. The jaws can stay 6 to 8 weeks like that. Later it may be necessary to connect the jaws with light rubber bands that can be applied or removed by yourself. You may need a blood transfusion to compensate the loss of blood during the operation. If the deformation is linked with a lack of bones, bone transplantation may also be necessary. The bone is taken from pelvis and in that case the patient may feel pain in the pelvis region during the healing of the wound.
